OVERVIEW
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection that affects any part of the urinary tract. The urinary tract includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. A UTI can occur in both men and women, but it is more common in women.
The most common symptom of a urinary tract infection is a burning feeling when you urinate. You may also have a strong urge to urinate even when your bladder is empty, and your urine may be cloudy, dark, or bloody. If the infection spreads to your kidneys, you may experience back pain, fever, or vomiting.
UTIs can be treated with antibiotics, but if left untreated, they can lead to serious health problems.
